Pat Matranga is a wood artist and sculptor with more than three decades of experience. Based in the suburbs of Nashville, she creates one-of-a-kind sculptural works and distinctive awards for universities, businesses, and organizations, including the United Nations Foundation. Her work has been commissioned by corporations and institutions seeking unique, personalized works that reflect creativity, excellence, and originality.
In addition to commissioned work, Matranga continues to explore sculptural wood forms that push the boundaries of traditional woodturning.
Matranga’s work and career have been featured on national and regional television programs, including HGTV and local television stations, as well as in publications such as Southern Living and American Woodturner, the journal of the American Association of Woodturners. She received first place in an international woodturning competition, with the winning piece Family with Rights featured in American Woodturner. Her work has also been presented in a solo exhibition at The Parthenon in Nashville.
In addition to her studio practice, Matranga is a dedicated educator who has been a featured demonstrator at national and regional woodturning symposia and at woodturning clubs across the country. Over the course of her career, she has taught and mentored hundreds of students, finding deep satisfaction in sharing her knowledge and helping others develop their skills. She views this passing on of traditional techniques as an important part of her artistic legacy.
